Instagram is on a roll with its continued rollout of helpful features, improving the lives of creators and brands.
Instagram might be listening to its creators more and actively pursuing opportunities to better the relationship between the two parties. (If you haven’t checked out Why Creators & Brands Should Be Excited About the New Instagram Reels Updates, this also proves it).
Instagram users can now add up to 5 links (URLs) to users’ profile pages.
This long-awaited feature has been one of the top feature requests from creators, which makes it even more surprising why we’re just now getting it thirteen years after the social media app's inception.
Let’s get real. We all know why Meta rolled this feature out. The folks at Meta want to ensure users spend as much time and energy on the platform as possible. This new feature eliminates the need for external applications like Linktree.
Plus, they are allowing ALL users to use this feature to remain competitive against other potential apps coming up and take their coveted spot at the top.
Conversely, TikTok only allows business accounts to input links on their profiles, with increased limitations on the types of links allowed. Instagram will enable all users to use the multiple links feature and, as of now, has yet to mention the types of links that will be available.
Brands and creators are always looking for optimal ways to get eyes on their content and boost product consideration across the board. This feature is great for creators and brands alike, who can utilize it to drive traffic to their other pages, websites, or work, especially without limitations on links driving to competing social pages or sites.
This feature will be handy if you want to help direct brands toward digital portfolios, other social media pages, and even your Fohr page. We recommend creators use this feature to better showcase their content work across platforms or connect with potential brands and community members.
Like creators, brands will be able to increase viewership on other owned brand social channels, specific campaigns, company sites, and ambassador sign-up pages or interest forms. As we do with Sephora Squad, this may be an excellent place for those application links to live to further increase engagement and consideration with the brands’ most enthusiastic followers.
I hope this was helpful, and as always, stay tuned for more social platform updates here!
