About Fohr’s 1-Year Anniversary Tradition: The Varsity Jacket

When someone invests a year of their life into something, it’s worth acknowledging that milestone.
We at Fohr recently had the pleasure of handing out an overdue batch of Fohr Varsity Jackets to a larger-than-usual group of employees who had passed their respective one-year anniversaries with the company. Fohr is a company that prioritizes people over profits, in that order. We love to celebrate our employees, especially when they hit a milestone in life and their careers.
The gift for when an employee punches in one year at Fohr is our custom Fohr varsity jacket. 365 days, 8,760 hours, 525,60 - anyway, you get the point. A lot of hard work, grit, and love are represented by this tradition. But when it happens amidst a backdrop of a global pandemic, myriad supply chain issues affecting the varsity jacket industry, the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, and many such cases? It’s a cause for celebration.
What makes this jacket even more special? The individual in it and their Fohr story, of course. Jason Dunn received his this summer and shared what it meant to him:
“When you work at @fohr.co for a year, you get a varsity jacket. It’s a neat tradition that’s been carried into our age of explosive growth from the scrappy early days. I hit my one-year in March, but like everything else in 2022, the supply chain was on fire and I got mine in July.
Still, getting handed this jacket was a big moment for me. I love how far I’ve come in my career. I love how this company relit a fuse that definitely needed sparking. And I love the people that I’m lucky enough to call coworkers. Here’s to more memories to be made as the years roll on!” - Jason Dunn, Manager, Account & Campaigns
A patch speaks a thousand words
The jackets themselves are each customized, with special insignias and patches to designate skill sets, departments, tenure, and more. We like to think of them as emblems to represent the history of Fohr. At Fohr, each badge is like a medal of honor and we are proud of the individuals who have received these medals and continue achieving incredible milestones within our company.
Each jacket features a sequentially-numbered pool ball representing the ‘hire number’ of the employee
The FC letters represent the company’s original name, Fohr Card. Letter jackets trace their origins to letter sweaters, first introduced by the Harvard University baseball team in 1865.
