Welcome to Fohr Ground: a podcast about personalities in the influencer space hosted by Fohr’s Marketing Director, Tim Jeffreys.
In episode 19, Tim is joined by Katie Sands, also known as Honestly Kate. She’s a woman of many talents: fashion blogger and Make-A-Wish board member by day, guest speaker on news channels by night.
While she initially intended to be an actress, she studied costume design in college—a perfect blend of her passions for theater and style. She even went on to study theater production in graduate school. You can see Broadway’s influence in her imagery today. In fact, her blog initially began as a private account highlighting her costume designs during her time helping out in local theater. The account eventually became the full-time fashion blog we know now: Honestly Kate.
Her blog is named Honestly Kate for a reason: she likes to be completely open with her followers. It shows in her lengthy captions too—whether it’s about her day or her outfit—she tries to bridge the gap between Instagram and real life. This collaborative spirit is evident in her mantra of favoring collaboration over competition with other influencers.
In this episode, she covers how her background in acting helped her develop her online persona, how to have a healthy experience on social media, and her plans for furthering her involvement with nonprofits. She also gets into why failing is okay (as long as it’s in the right direction).
