Welcome to Fohr Ground: a podcast about personalities in the influencer space hosted by Fohr’s Marketing Director, Tim Jeffreys.

Jessica Torres is a body-positive blogger, podcast host, and YouTuber based in New York City. She grew up in the Bronx with aspirations to be a journalist—namely, to be on broadcast television shows like Primer Impacto. Realizing how difficult it was to break into the industry without the right connections, she showcased her writing through a blog of her own.

That blog, Little Red Shoes began as a fashion site and soon helped her land a writing gig at Revelist. From there, she continued developing her online presence and now, eight years later, she creates content for Instagram, YouTube, Fat Girls Club podcast and, of course, the blog that started it all. She tells us how she distinguishes the content that goes on each platform and why she keeps up with them.

It’s clear that she’s as inspirational as she is savvy. Growing up, she didn’t have role models like her in the media, making it important for her to be the person she needed when she was younger. In this episode, she shares her personal journey to self-love, her advice for taking care of yourself, and why you should always take risks.

We learned a lot from this conversation—everything from ways you can practice self-love to what it takes to thrive in this industry. Jessica’s perspective is definitely worth hearing.
